Have you been cooped up? Ready to get out on a nice, wide course with plenty of room? Join us on the first day of May for a fresh 5K and Kid’s Dash! Sunglasses, Hawaiian shirts, costumes and summer vibes required: it’s the Cabin Fever Reliever! It’s been a long year and longer winter and we’re ready to get you outside!
Thank you for your patience with events and changing plans in 2020. We’re excited about a new year, a new season and seeing our friends in person (but from a distance!) at this summer. What’s the Cabin Fever Reliever? It’s a fast, fun 5K and Kid’s Dash with an in-person and virtual participation option. This event will replace the Superhero Showdown for 2021. Skinny Raven is happy to partner with Healthy Futures for the Cabin Fever Reliever. They will be at the event with their crew of Healthy Heroes helping the little heroes have fun while being active.

The Cabin Fever Reliever will start on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive just north of the Chuck Albrecht softball fields and finish in the softball field parking lot. Race day registration and bib pickup will also be in the parking lot.
The course begins on Dr. MLK Drive just north of the Chuck Albrecht fields parking lot and heads east. The 1.3K course turns around after about .65K and goes west on Dr. MLK Drive back to the parking lot. The 5K course heads east for about .5K and doglegs left onto Tudor Center Rd. for a short out-and-back. You then head east on Dr. MLK Drive to run a long out-and-back distance before turning around. The second lap is a shorter loop only on Dr. MLK Dr. before heading back to the Chuck Albrecht parking lot. For more information reference the map below!
In line with current Health Department requirements, we are planning “open” start waves of 75 every 10 minutes beginning at 9:00 a.m. You can arrive to start your event anytime in your 10 minute time slot and we will be releasing runners every about every 5 seconds.

Parking will be available in the Anchorage Municipal building parking lot, located just east of the Chuck Albrecht softball complex on the west side of Elmore Road.
We all want to get together before and after you tackle the course. But, for now, we have to plan a socially distant event. If we can do more by event day, we will!
Keeping Us Safe
For participant safety, and to comply with our insurance, we do not allow pets, bicycles, or rollerblades in the race. We ask participants running with baby joggers or strollers to please start in the back of the field and to be courteous to your fellow runners.
We have developed a Covid-19 Safety and Mitigation plan in accordance with state and local regulations as well as our sanctioning body, USA Track & Field. We will have the plan posted shortly. This plan may evolve as we navigate the approval process.

For those of you who may be making the Shamrock Shuffle as part of a trip to Alaska or who have recently travelled home to Alaska MUST ensure we are all abiding by State of Alaska and AnchorageCovid-19 Travel restrictions:

For participant safety, and to comply with our insurance, no pets, bicycles, or rollerblades are allowed in the race. Participants running with baby joggers or strollers are asked to be courteous to your fellow runners and give other plenty of room.
- The timeline to run your virtual event is April 17 through May 1, so you can wrap your event up the same day as the in-person event!
Easy steps to having an awesome virtual event:
- Log into your RunSignup profile and view and/or download your personalized virtual bib. You will also receive a real, paper bib with registration.
- Complete your distance! You can run your favorite route on the trails, in your neighborhood, at the gym, or under the late night sunset.
- Post your finish. You can do this from the manual results upload at this link. (Using this method, you can indicate that you finished, but choose not to input your time)
Or you can use the RaceJoy app to track your distance. This fun app allows you to:
- Automatically track your progress and distance on any course you choose.
- Automatically post your results to the online event results
- Allow your family and friends to track your progress and send you cheers.
- Hear GPS progress alerts and pre-set cheers as you complete along your route
- Download your finisher certificate on personal your results page.
- Join us for packet pickup Or select a shipping method and your bib and shirt packet will be mailed to you. You can select or change a shipping method after the fact by managing your registration prior to April.

Participants must abide by the Center for Disease Control (CDC)’s recommendations for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 and attest to having read the CDC’s guidance at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html. Participants must also follow local, state and federal regulations regarding preventing the spread of COVID-19 for their region. Participant must abide by all pedestrian safety ordinances including running on a sidewalk where available and not in the road. If there is no sidewalk or multi-use trail is available participants must run against oncoming traffic and not with traffic.
Changes, Deferments, and Refunds
Because your health and comfort with our event is paramount, we are offering the option to swap between the in-person and virtual events, defer to 2022, or defer to another 2021 Skinny Raven event so long as the request is submitted prior to March 13, 2021.
