Hightail Half and Quarter Marathon

Anchorage, AK

May 22 Update

Wow, can we say things are changing quickly?

We said last week that we would have details today about the virtual event and what your options were regarding your registration. At the time we were looking at the uncertainty of 3 – 4 more weeks of limited business operations, no ability to finalize permits with the Municipality of Anchorage, and no guidelines from the State of Alaska or Municipality on how to safely operate a community event.

Now in the span of 3 days, both the State of Alaska and Municipality of Anchorage have announced a resumption of normal business operations while maintaining safety precautions that have been developed during the preceding months. And it looks like this includes some level of community events. That being said, it will take a little time for permitting agencies and the Municipality to produce the regulations regarding events such as the Hightail Half Marathon.

To that end, we have decided to wait 1-2 weeks for the permitting guidelines and Municipal regulations to be known before making any final decisions on what the Hightail Half will look like this year. Know that we will be acting with your health and safety as the guiding force for our path forward. We will offer a virtual option even if we hold an in-person event, and we will also offer deferments and refunds if desired to those participants registered prior to 5/23. We commit to being flexible with you just as you have been flexible with us.

Here’s to a continued upward trend and good training!
