Even with modifications, you’re guaranteed a great time kicking off summer on the Park Strip with Team Raven. Grab your family, friends or both and join us for a 12K and 6K summer run on June 4th!

If you aren’t ready to join us in person or if you’d like to run with us from out of town, we are still “hosting” a virtual Twilight 12K.

Bib Pickup

Come before race day to get your shirt and your bib. It’s always crazy right before the race and we don’t want you to miss the start, so please come to a pre-race bib pickup.

For those who are absolutely unable to get your bib before race day, there will be a last chance bib pickup. It will be open at 5:30 p.m. and it will close promptly at 6:30 p.m.

GOODIES

Fly Twilight 12K shirts are back as always. We’ll have some cool hats as an add-on purchase. We are working with the health departments on how much of a post event party we can and if we can do beer or pizza. If we can’t do beer and pizza we will get creative and make be sure to add the value of the in another fun way.

 Art & Add-ons

The 2021 art was designed by Kristin Vantrease of @AdriftPrints and inspired by Ptarmigan Peak in the front range of the Chugach Mountains. From Kristin: Ptarmigan Peak is a gorgeous mountain in the front range of the Chugach. Looking at Ptarmigan straight-on, it may seem intimidating, but the actual route up to the top is less daunting than you might think.  I wanted my carving to capture the sweeping lines, and the aspect that leads the summit.  I love how each face of Ptarmigan reveals its own features and personality. I hiked up by myself one summer and was able to steep in solace, sunshine, and blue sky with the rest of the Chugach and Dena’ina land sprawling out around me.

We have two awesome ways to have the original art: Hand created linocut Prints and killer Boco trucker hats. Hover over the photos for more info on Linocut prints and Hats.

IN-PERSON EVENT

Location & Course

Both races start at 800 H St. in front of Skinny Raven Sports.
Both races finish at the Rose Garden at the west end of the Park Strip.

The 2021 12K course will feature an out-and-back on the Coastal Trail from Westchester lagoon for it’s additional 6K. Due to the length of road closures needed for a spaced out, mitigated start format we won’t be able to visit Government Hill this year. We’ll be back over the bridge next time!

Start Format

Having a Covid-19 safe event means that we need to space our start out over a longer period of time.  We anticipate using a small wave format (eg: 100 every 5 minutes.) The final start format will be announce in coordination with the Anchorage Health Department and accordance with local Covid-19 health guidelines. Waves will be organized largely by estimated finish time..

We’ve moved the start up to 6:00pm from our historical 7:00pm start time to accommodate this longer period. 12K participants will start first followed by the 6K participants. Your wave start time will be assigned by May 26th. You must start during your assigned wave period.

How can you ensure you start in the same group with your family or close friends?
-Your group can organize a starting group/team upon, or after registration within their event distance. Choose a team captain to create the team and have your group members each join the team. Choosing to start as a group will negate your start being assigned based on anticipated finish time. Starting group members added after May 28th, 2021 are not guaranteed to start with their chosen starting group.

PARTY

We will have a live DJ at the finish line and live music on course. As we know more about what we will be allowed to do, we will adjust our plans. If we can have some beer at the finish we will, if we can have some pizza we will, but we won’t know until we are closer to summertime.

Awards

The top 3 overall men and women 12K finishers receive awards. Awards/Prizes are TBD.
The top 3 overall men and women 6K finishers receive sponsor gift cards.

Age class winners for both races will receive a prize. You must be present to pick it up or we might just pass it on to someone!

Parking

Parking is available in the downtown parking garages and street. On street parking is free after 6:00 p.m. There is no parking allowed on the race route. There will be limited parking available on the Park Strip.

Safety Policy

For participant safety, and to comply with our insurance, no pets, bicycles, or rollerblades are allowed in the race. Participants running with baby joggers or strollers are asked to start in the back of the field and to be courteous to your fellow runners.

Virtual Events and Results

A virtual run/walk is an event that you can complete anytime or anyplace during a specified period! The best part of a virtual event is convenience – you decide what works best for you.

The timeframe to complete your run is May 21st to June 4th. Get out on the trails or your favorite neighborhood loop and don’t forget to post a selfie on our Facebook Page when you have completed your run. Tag Skinny Raven Sports and use #twilight12K

Easy steps to having an awesome virtual event:

  1. Log into your RunSignup profile and view and/or download your personalized virtual bib for a keepsake and for your day pass to The Alaska Club. Virtual bib numbers will be assigned on May 19th.
  2. Complete your distance! You can run your favorite route on the trails, in your neighborhood, at the gym, or under the late night sunset.
  3. Post your finish. You can do this from the manual results upload at this link. (Using this method, you can indicate that you finished, but choose not to input your time)

Virtual Run Safety Policy

Participants must abide by the Center for Disease Control (CDC)’s recommendations for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 and attest to having read the CDC’s guidance at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html.  Participants must also follow local, state and federal regulations regarding preventing the spread of COVID-19 for their region. Participant must abide by all pedestrian safety ordinances including running on a sidewalk where available and not in the road.  If there is no sidewalk or multi-use trail is available participants must run against oncoming traffic and not with traffic.

Changes, Deferments, and Refunds

Because your health and comfort with our event is paramount, we are offering the option to swap between the in-person and virtual events, defer to 2022, or defer to another 2021 Skinny Raven event so long as the request is submitted prior to March 13, 2021.
