We’ve got treats, we’ve got costumes, and we’ve got a costume contest! Fall is here, and YOU will be haunting downtown Anchorage. We will be staging from the spooky Captain Cook courtyard. So grab your friends and family, don your best costumes and join us for the Frightening 4K.

Trick-or-treat!

Fun and fantastic trick-or-treat stations will green you at each kilometer. Fill up your candy bag, enjoy the spooky decor, or blast on by as fast as you can!

Get your fill at the 4K, then head out and chase goodies all through downtown at the Anchorage Downtown Partnerships Trick-or-Treat Street! It kicks off right after the Frightening 4K

Packet Pick Up

Coming to an early bib pickup will make your event day so much easier. Event day bib pickup for the Frightening 4K is always crazy with costumes, cold, and the amount of people who wait. Come early so you can maximize your time getting your costume ready!

In-Person Event

Staged from the perfect, spooky Hotel Captain Cook courtyard, you'll be able to see all of your fellow ghouls, ghosts, and goblins on this wide out-and-back course. Pick up some treats on your way down to Ship Creek, and enjoy the post race fun at the finish!

Location & Course Map

We will have both a virtual and in-person costume contest.

In-person Participants: We will be doing the costume contest before the event. You will need to arrive at the start area by 10:30am and check in at the stage. At about 10:45am our judges will announce their favorite individual and group costume.

Virtual Participants: You will need to upload you or your groups costume photo to your results page by midnight on October 29th (instructions). We’ll post our judges favorites online and announce the winners on October 31st. If we don’t get any costume pics uploaded, we can’t have a costume.

Prizes – For both virtual and in-person participants.
Individual – The best costume and first runner-up will receive a prize.
Teams & Families – The best themed costume and first runner-up for teams or families of 3 or more will receive a group prize.

Awards
The top 3 male and female runners will receive a prize.

The course is an out and back 4K from 4th Avenue by the Hotel Captain Cook. The start and finish are are separate. You will start north on I St. before immediately turning east on 4th Ave. You will travel down H St., Christiansen Dr., and 1st Ave, north on Cordova and east on Ship Creek Ave. Then you’ll turn around and get to see all the awesome costumes on your way back up to the finish! You will finish on 4th avenue as you cross I St.

Virtual Event

A virtual run/walk is an event that you can complete anytime or anyplace during a specified period! The best part of a virtual event is convenience – you decide what works best for you.

The timeframe to complete your run is October 24-31,2026. Get out on the trails or your spookiest neighborhood loop and don’t forget to post a selfie on our Facebook Page when you have completed your run. Tag Skinny Raven Sports and use #frightening4K

If you are already registered for the in-person event and wish to switch to the virtual event, you can transfer yourself via “Manage Registration” on your RunSignup Profile.

Easy steps to having an awesome virtual event:

Log into your RunSignup profile and view and/or download your personalized virtual bib. You will also receive a real, paper bib with registration.
Complete your distance(s)! You can run your favorite route on the trails, in your neighborhood, at the gym, or under the late night sunset.
Post your finish(s). You can do this from the manual results upload at this link. (Using this method, you can indicate that you finished, but choose not to input your time)Or you can use the RaceJoy app to track your 4K. This fun app allows you to:
- Automatically track your progress and distance on any course you choose.
- Automatically post your results to the online event results
- Allow your family and friends to track your progress and send you cheers.
- Hear GPS progress alerts and pre-set cheers as you complete along your route
Download your finisher certificate on personal your results page.
Join us for packet pickup to get your bib and trick or treat. First Class Shipping is included in your virtual registration.

We will begin mailing packets to virtual participants who request shipping a week prior to the event.
