Turkey Trot

11.26.2020

This year’s Turkey Trot is going VIRTUAL!
You can still help us make it our biggest year yet!

In 2019 we had our biggest Turkey Trot in history! Turkey Trotters donated 800 pounds of food and $11,000 to the Food Bank of Alaska! We believe we can still set a new record by making this year about giving thanks and helping others. Event size, course costs, and venue restrictions make an in-person Turkey Trot difficult to properly mitigate under current COVID-19 restrictions.

Instead we are going VIRTUAL with 2 goals:

Goal 1: Raise Money! – The Food Bank of Alaska is experiencing a sharp increase in demand due to COVID-19. We are asking you to help us drive fundraising for this critical community organization. Create an individual or team fundraiser through our registration platform and help us set a record for Turkey Trot donations. We have some great gifts for reaching fund raising goals:

Goal reaching gifts
Individual – $500  raised earns you a killer Turkey Trot hoody
Team goal – $2000 raised earns a takeout dinner party for your team

Goal 2: Get us all Moving! – Let’s keep Thanksgiving one of the biggest running and walking days of the year in Anchorage. With a goal of getting 2203 (same as 2019) people running on Thanksgiving day, you’ll have 1 day (Thanksgiving) to complete your run and post your result. We’ll have fun updates through the RaceJoy app and you can join the Skinny Raven crew on Facebook Live as we kick of our own Turkey Trot as a group.

We are also upgrading your event shirt to a comfy 1/4 zip long sleeve!

Like we said, this year is all about giving thanks and giving back. Thank YOU for being part of  our community, and we hope you’ll join us in moving and supporting the Food Bank of Alaska this Thanksgiving!

Awards

Me-o-my, win your pie!

It wouldn’t be the Turkey Trot without pies. We will still be giving A Pie Stop pies out to age group winners. We will ask for GPS verification for any age group winning time, so be sure to record your effort if you want to win your pie and if you are at the top of your age group send us the GPS file, Garmin activity, Strava activity, or even a video for verification. For obvious reasons we can’t ship tasty, locally made pies. If you are in Anchorage, our events team will personally deliver your pie on Friday, November 26th. If not, you can arrange a different pickup or gift your pie to an Anchorage friend or family member. We will reach out to you, or you can email timing@skinnyraven to make other arraignments.

Age Classes

1-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ for both men and women. The top 3 girls and boy under 10 in the Mini Turkey will also win a pie. There aren’t any age class awards for the Mini Turkey.
