This Oktoberfest event is in partnership with 49th State Brewing. We're bringing you a celebration of German culture that'll leave you hopping with joy. From scrumptious pretzels & cheese, savory sausages, and even Turkish doner kebab. Thirsty after all the fun? There's no better way to quench it than with local specialty crafted brews!

What better way to celebrate fall than the traditions of Oktoberfest than a good workout and food and fun with friends.

49th State Oktoberfest

Join 49th State Brewing at their Downtown Anchorage Pub’s Beer Garden to celebrate Oktoberfest the German way on Saturday, September 23rd starting at 4pm.

They’re serving a German food menu, releasing some special beers for the occasion, pouring Oktoberfest Lager by the 1 liter stein (you keep the stein), holding epic competitions like our stein holding contest and weiner toss, plus hosting Alaska Blaskapelle, who will be bringing down the house with traditional German music. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the kids to mingle with the Last Frontier Trail Llamas pigs Alaska Potbelly Pig Rescue.

49th State is graciously sharing their event space with us in the morning, so you can celebrate right after you finish or later with their own version of Oktoberfest.

In-Person Event

Join us for fall fun and festivities. Check in at The 49th State if you still need your bib. The event starts on 2nd Avenue for a beautiful fall out-and-and back along the coast. When your done head back up to 49th State for tasty beverages and mouth watering food. Want to rest up right after the event, head home then come back for 49th State Brewing's own Oktoberfest featuring a live traditional German band, games, more family fun.

Location & Course Map

Once you’re finished head back up to 49th State for post even fun, food and festivities. DJ Spencer Lee will be spinning German inspired tunes. There will be a lederhosen contest, pretzels, sausage, and Turkish doner (yes, there’s a large Turkish population in Germany), and fun prizes.

Both the 5K and 10K start together on 2nd Ave. The course quickly joins the Tony Knowels Coastal Trail.

At Westchester Lagoon the courses diverge.

The 5K turns easy up the Chester Creek Trail then does a teardrop turnaround through the park just past the boat ramp and heads back to the start/finish.

The 10K stays on the Coastal Trail until the turnaround point then returns the start/finish area.

Virtual Event

A virtual run/walk is an event that you can complete anytime or anyplace during a specified period! The best part of a virtual event is convenience – you decide what works best for you.

The timeframe to complete your run is September 15th – 24th. Get out on the trails or your favorite neighborhood loop and don’t forget to post a selfie on our Facebook Page when you have completed your run. We’d love to see your costumes!

Easy steps to having an awesome virtual event:

Log into your RunSignup profile and view and/or download your personalized virtual bib for a keepsake and for your day pass to The Alaska Club. Virtual bib numbers will be assigned on May 25th.
Complete your distance! You can run your favorite route on the trails, in your neighborhood, at the gym, or under the late night sunset.
Post your finish. You can do this from the manual results upload at this link. (Using this method, you can indicate that you finished, but choose not to input your time)
- Or you can use the RaceJoy app. This fun app allows you to:
- Automatically track your progress and distance on any course you choose.
- Automatically post your results to the online event results
- Allow your family and friends to track your progress and send you cheers.
- Hear GPS progress alerts and pre-set cheers as you complete along your route

Join us for packet pickup Or select a shipping method and your bib and shirt packet will be mailed to you. You can select or change a shipping method after the fact by managing your registration by April 30th.

We will begin mailing packets to virtual participants who request shipping the last 1-2 weeks of May.
